THERAPY DOGS
Age Requirement is 1 year and up
Is your dog well behaved?... Does your dog love people?... Does your dog love to be petted & hugged by everyone he/she meets?... Do you have 1 hour a month to visit a hospital or facility in the area?
If you answered YES to these questions,
you should seriously consider becoming a part of our Pet Therapy Team!
Class Description
The objective of this course is to prepare you and your dog to visit facilities such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities, community centers and hospitals. Topics covered are Basic Behavior required at a facility, Facility Protocols, Working Dog Guidelines, Socialization Skills, working with Medical Equipment and certifying you and your dog as a Therapy Team.
Let us prepare you and your dog with all of the necessary training to become a CERTIFIED THERAPY TEAM!
Our purpose is to help owners and handlers of well-behaved dogs share the special love their dogs give to them with others that are less fortunate. Not all dogs possess the very special temperament that is necessary for he/she to become a therapy dog. However, if your dog has this potential, we can help you unlock and develop it. We all work with our dogs in Pet Therapy and have for a long time. We understand how strong your love and bond can be with your own dog and the unequaled pleasure that comes from volunteering with your dog as a team to help others. We want to help you get started and we want to help you succeed. We remember what it was like. We know - you've been meaning to check it out and find out what you'll need to do and you know you're so far away from your goal why even think about it now? Because you're probably not as far away as you think. We'll help you organize for the testing. We'll help you with training, if necessary. We'll make taking the test effortless. We'll help guide you to places to work with your dog. Don't procrastinate any longer. Enroll today! You and your dog are needed out there!

Therapy Dog Classes are NOT obedience training classes. We do suggest that you take this time before the next course begins to either train your dog with a professional trainer (private or group class) or tune up your dog's obedience training yourself. Dogs must walk nicely on a leash (no pulling), have greeting mannerisms (no jumping) and have basic obedience skills (sit, down, come and stay).
